Firm Announcement: We Are Moving
Hello and welcome to the Law Office of Charles B. Smith
In September of 2015, my wife and I decided to move to Tuolumne County so that she could be closer to her family. During this time I have commuted back and forth to the Bay Area to continue my legal practice there and mostly saw her on the weekends. Coronavirus and the resulting shelter in place made me realize how desperately I miss my wife, my family, and our little farm while I am away.
My wife has deep roots in the Mother Lode going back to when her family settled in Placerville and Lincoln during the Gold Rush and she had spent almost 30 years visiting family here in Tuolumne County before we moved. Having grown up with a father who was a career Marine Corp officer, I’ve never felt deeply rooted to a single place or area before, but the more time I have spent in Tuolumne County, the more I have felt the need to plant myself here. John Muir wrote that “the mountains are calling and I must go”, and I can no longer ignore the call of the Western Sierra Nevadas.
For the past several years, I have been taking cases on referral in Tuolumne County while spending the majority of my work time in the Bay Area. The time has come to reverse that and spend the majority of my time in Tuolumne County while still taking care of my clients (and their families and friends) in the counties of Santa Clara, San Francisco, and Alameda.
I look forward to continuing to support my loyal Bay Area clients, and I equally look forward to providing the same level of legal excellence with compassion and integrity I have provided them with to the people of Tuolumne County.
With deep gratitude and the warmest of regards,
Charles
